FRANKLIN, Tenn., Sept. 30, 2020 — PopHealthCare, a leader in home-based, primary care and prospective and retrospective risk adjustment services, today announced the appointment of Christopher Dodd, M.D., as its chief medical officer. In this role, Dr. Dodd will lead the company’s effort to scale its national network of home-based medical care practices. He will have overall accountability and oversight of all clinical functions for the company, and he will be responsible for maintaining program integrity to ensure the delivery of the highest value health care services. He will serve on the executive leadership team and will report to PopHealthCare President Kirk Stanley.
“Dr. Dodd brings vast experience in designing and implementing innovative clinical interventions and a deep understanding of the needs of our health plan and provider group partners,” Stanley said. “His proven leadership will be instrumental as we continue to deliver value to our clients by improving the quality and effectiveness of care for their geriatric and most vulnerable members.”
Dr. Dodd has two decades of experience caring for geriatric and vulnerable populations as a practicing internal medicine physician and public health practitioner. He has worked in some of the world’s most challenging settings, including Mozambique and Nicaragua, as well as in underserved communities across the United States.
“I am passionate about delivering medical care to people living with complex health and social needs, and I believe home-based primary care is the future of health care,” said Dr. Dodd. “What attracted me to PopHealthCare was the team, from front-line health professionals to a vibrant management team who is committed to furthering PopHealthCare’s mission to reimagine how health care is delivered.”

“The addition of Dr. Dodd to PopHealthCare’s executive leadership team rounds out a strong group of proven leaders,” said Mark McConnell CEO of GuideWell Connect, Onlife Health and PopHealthCare. “As a member of the GuideWell family of companies focused on transforming the delivery of health care, PopHealthCare continues to attract top talent in the industry.”
During his social medicine and global health training, Dodd had the opportunity to study health care delivery both in the United States and around the world. It was then that he observed the value of delivering primary care for vulnerable populations in their homes.
Most recently, Dr. Dodd served as chief clinical officer for ConcertoHealth. Prior to that, he cared for high-need, high-risk patients at Harborview Medical Center as an inpatient hospitalist. He also served as a physician leader at Seattle’s largest federally qualified health center, Neighborcare Health. There, he oversaw a successful Center for Medicare Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) grant that supported a team-based approach to caring for complex populations, resulting in better health outcomes, improved patient experience and reduced total cost of care.
Dr. Dodd is a founding member and current president of the board of directors of Maravilla Health, an organization that supports community-based groups and public health systems in countries with limited resources. He also serves as a faculty member in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington, where he teaches student health professionals.
Dr. Dodd graduated from Vanderbilt University, earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, and completed the Program in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He continues to practice as a house call provider for frail, elderly and vulnerable patients in the Pacific Northwest.
